Abstract

The main purposes of this trial are to study the behavior, in terms of the morphological aspect notably that relating to foliage and ear, of some local varieties of common wheat native to Adrar region in comparison with two introduced varieties namely; Anza and HD 1220. The average varietal effect for the characters considered is important and exceeds 84,81% of the total variability, while that of the block is only 2,92% which remains marginal compared to the phenotypic diversity. Furthermore, in the early stages of development, we have noticed that, local varieties tend to develop significant larger and longer leaves than introduced varieties. Additionally, most of the local varieties have short and dense ears as those of the introduced varieties. There are negative correlations between the number of fertile spikelets, on one hand, and the width and length of the first leaves, on the other hand, positive correlations with thelength of the spikeandthe total number of spikelets per spike
