Abstract

To evaluate if biological treatment should be chosen while adapting to the bacterial circumstance and in order to better understand the impact of activated sludge (TSS) characteristics on oxygen transfer, a hydrodynamic follow-up and material transfer of oxygen in an aerated basin of a sewage treatment plant.
An experimental device consisting of a fine-bubble column of 0.0846 m3 fed with continuously activated sludge was used. The oxygen transfer coefficient KLa was measured in the bubble column. A decrease in the volume transfer coefficient of material with the increase in the concentration of MES to more than 1341 mg TSS / Lwas found. This makes it possible by comparing our experimental and modeling results with the various correlations cited in the literature to determine the material transfer coefficient KLa.
This approach will be a new way of investigating crop conditions that improve the aeration performance in biological purification processes.
